Landscaping Services in Renton, WA

Most Renton yards do not need a redesign. They need someone to turn up.

The beds get away from you over one wet spring. The hedge that was tidy in March is blocking a window by July. There is a pile of storm debris behind the shed that has been there since the last big wind. None of it is a project. All of it is why the property looks tired.

That is the work we do. Ongoing yard care and the one off jobs that put a property back in shape, handled by the same crew that does our tree work.

We are family-owned and operated and bonded, licensed and insured, and Renton is where we work.

What We Handle

Some customers book one job. Others have us out on a schedule. Both are fine.

Lawn mowing and lawn care , either as a regular cut or a one off rescue when things have got long. Mowed and edged properly, which is most of what makes a lawn look cared for.

Hedge trimming and shrub trimming , shaped so they hold that shape instead of going straight back to shaggy in six weeks.

Yard cleanups for leaf fall, storm debris, overgrown beds and the general end of season reset.

Mulch installation and bark and gravel application , which is the cheapest thing you can do to make beds look finished and stay that way.

Sod installation , planting and bed work, and irrigation system installation for the bigger changes.

We also handle topsoil and dead plant removal, and if the job is somewhere in between the categories above, the sensible thing is to ask rather than assume we do not cover it.

Renton Weather Runs the Schedule

Our winters are wet and long, and that decides more about yard care here than anything a plant tag tells you.

Wet ground compacts under foot traffic and mowers, and compacted soil is where moss beats grass. Beds sit soggy through February and roots suffocate if the drainage is wrong. Then everything grows at once in April and people who skipped the winter work spend May trying to catch up.

Ever noticed how the same lawn looks fine in August and terrible in March?

That gap is almost always drainage and compaction, not fertilizer. It is the thing we look at first on a property that keeps disappointing its owner.

The 2021 heat dome made the other half of the point: beds that were mulched properly held moisture through it, and bare soil next to them baked hard and took plants with it. Good bark or gravel work helps here more than people realize. Both shed water off beds and paths instead of letting it pool, and gravel in the right spot solves a wet patch permanently.

How We Do Mulch and Bark, Properly

Spreading bark is the job everyone thinks is simple, and it is the one we have seen done badly most often. Too thin and the weeds come through by June. Too thick and piled against stems and you rot the plants you were trying to protect.

We run it in five steps.

  1. 1
Talk it through. What you want the beds to do, and what has failed there before.
  2. 2
Look at the site. Soil type, what is planted, sun, slope and how the ground drains.
  3. 3
Pick the material. Organic mulch, bark or gravel, chosen off what we just looked at rather than what is on the truck.
  4. 4
Install it at the right depth. Even, and pulled back from stems and trunks.
  5. 5
Walk it with you and leave you the maintenance notes. So it lasts rather than needing redoing next spring.

Step two is the one that gets skipped everywhere else, and because it determines the depth, the material and whether the bed drains at all, it is also the step that decides whether you are looking at a finished garden in eighteen months or paying somebody to redo the whole thing.

Is it worth paying attention to bark depth on a bed you barely look at in winter?

It is, because the weeds that establish under thin mulch in February are the ones you will be pulling by hand all summer, and the compaction that develops in soggy, unprotected beds takes a full season of remedial work to reverse.

One Crew for the Trees and the Yard

Most Renton properties that need landscaping also have a tree problem sitting behind it, and vice versa.

A hedge is out of control because the tree above it grew and changed the light. The lawn will not thicken because a low canopy is shading it out. A bed is unplantable because there is a stump in the middle of it.

We do both, so we can tell you which one is actually causing the problem before you spend money on the wrong end of it. If the answer is tree trimming rather than a new lawn, we will say so, even though the lawn is the bigger invoice. The trimming side is cut to the ANSI A300 standard, so raising a canopy for light does not cost the tree its structure.

How We Work

Our process is the same four steps as everything else we do.

You call, email or use the form. We come out and look at the property, free, and give you a written quote with no obligation and no pressure to sign on the spot. We do the work on the day we said we would. Then we clean up completely before we leave, which is included and not an add-on.

For regular customers it is simpler still. We agree a schedule that suits the property and the season, we turn up on it without needing to be chased, and the yard stops being something you think about on a Saturday morning.

Every job carries a satisfaction guarantee.

What Landscaping Work Costs

We quote on the property, not off a photo or a phone description. What moves the price:

  • Size of the area. Obvious, but it is the main one.
  • Condition it is in now. A neglected yard costs more the first visit and less after that. A rescue cut is not a maintenance cut.
  • Access. Whether we can get equipment and material to the back of the property or whether it all goes through a side gate by hand.
  • Materials. Bark, gravel, topsoil, sod and plants are real costs and we show them separately.
  • Disposal. How much green waste is leaving and where it goes.
  • One off or ongoing. Regular visits cost less per visit than occasional rescues.

Free estimates, always. Written, itemized, and the figure does not move once you have approved it, because a quote that changes halfway through a job is not really a quote.

Landscaping FAQs: What Renton Homeowners Ask

Do you do regular maintenance or only one off jobs?

Both. Plenty of customers have us on a schedule for mowing and seasonal work, and plenty book a single cleanup or a mulch job and call again when they need us.

When is the best time to lay sod in Renton?

Spring and early fall are the easy windows, because the ground is warm and the rain does the watering for you. Midsummer sod is possible but it needs real irrigation behind it or it will not take.

How often should hedges be trimmed?

Most hedges here want two cuts a year to hold a crisp shape, and one heavier cut if they have been left to run. Fast growers near a window or a path often need three.

Can you fix a lawn that is more moss than grass?

Usually, and moss is a symptom rather than the disease. It means shade, compaction or poor drainage, and the fix is to deal with whichever of those it is. Killing the moss without changing the cause just gives you bare soil for a season.

Do you handle green waste disposal?

Yes. Debris, leaves, clippings and prunings all leave with us unless you would rather keep the chips for your own beds.

Do you work on commercial properties?

We do. Residential is most of what we handle, and we also work on commercial and municipal properties around Renton.
